The Noreen Fraser Foundation - Men for

The Noreen Fraser Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization focusing on funding translational cancer research in the area of women’s cancers. Our mission is to use educational and awareness campaigns to raise funds for research aimed at developing new prevention methods, diagnostic tools and non-toxic therapies to treat women’s cancers. Our hope is that until there are CURES, women’s cancers will become manageable diseases that can be controlled with targeted treatments that protect patients’ quality of life.

The Noreen Fraser Foundation supports research for all women’s cancers because of the strong link between each of the women’s cancers including hereditary cancer syndromes as well as because many in the research community believe that research in the field of women’s cancers will inevitably lead to progress in treating cancers in other parts of the body. We also believe that a multi-disciplinary approach and collaboration among researchers is absolutely necessary to find cures and reasonable treatment options.

Translational research, a relatively new science, focuses on transforming scientific discoveries learned in the laboratory into clinical applications to reduce the rate and mortality of cancer. Current screening methods must be perfected and treatment options improved- – too many women’s cancers go undetected and the current standard of care for most women’s cancers which usually involves surgery, chemotherapy and radiation is unsatisfactory. Doctors often do not know if that regimen is effective when prescribed and the short-term and long-term side effects can severely damage patients’ quality of life.

The research that we fund is focused on reducing the rate of women’s cancers, improving screening techniques and developing new cancer treatments. We feel that while a lot of money has been raised in the name of cancer, it has been divided amongst thousands of researchers and thousands of ideas diluting its impact. We believe that more money needs to be channeled to a smaller number of ideas. Focused funding and focused research will afford us the best chance to make greater strides and give this generation more than just hope to pass on to the next generation.

The key is focus… Focused Funding, Focused Research, Focused Cures.
